Helper Experience (2): The Kiwi's Life

2.2.2015

Experience the Kiwi's life has been listed as one of my must-do thing during my New Zealand trip. I am so pleasure to know Robert, my host, through the Helpx website. He is a very nice, friendly, helpful, and passionate person. He take serious on everyone he meet, willing to spare his time and try his best to help.

So, how was my Kiwi's experience? I stayed in Robert's house for 10 days and it was a fullness life everyday. I did housework for him in exchange of accomodation. Work was not hard, simply a housekeeping job, gardening and i had tidied up his wardrobe. It was dog's breakfast in there, hahah!

Yeah, an organized wardrobe!

Robert's house was very social at that moment. I met 2 French guys, 1 Korean girl, 1 German girl, 1 China couples, and 1 Hong Kong girl during my stay. Robert has a Thailand flatmate too, Pimmy, she cooked me yummy vegetarian meals everyday.

Vegetarian pizza prepared by Pimmy. It was yummyilicious!

That was a night we sent Bomi, the Korean girl, took flight to her next destination. The German girl at the other side is Pia. She likes panda a lot and she did made us delicious burger.

The funny moment in the house. From the left is Pimmy, Robert, David, me and the photographer was Sky.

Christchurch is rich with trees and flowers, a Garden City. This is Kauri tree, a mightiest native tree in New Zealand.

Robert scheduled me a lot of activities. He brought me to the Thai temple to learn Meditation, which is a way to make aware of our ownself.

Besides, I when to see the night scenery of Christchurch at New Brighton. It was truely amazing, fantastic view!

Robert loves dancing. I got the chance to learn some dancing from him too, eg. Marengo, Bachata, and Salsa dance.

Little calm down period after the dancing.

I am so grateful to have Robert as the host for me to experience Kiwi's life. I enjoyed a lot! Yet playing around, I had some English training sessions in the house too. Thank Robert and Pimmy, it was very helpful to me.

Christmas Festival & New Year Day!

1.1.2015

Kia ora 2015!

It was a awesome new year countdown in New Zealand - the country which first go across the year. I celebrated this new year eve with my friends at the Caroline Bay in Timaru, pretty happening! Fun fair, people dancing, and fireworks. So lucky, this celebration was finished with a beautiful ending, heavy rain just right after 2 seconds the fireworks end.

We pick the most extreme game, the Round Up. People just needed to stand and hold the supporting stand in the roller, and wait to be spin up and down. It is really nice for try! (Cost: NZD5)

They dance, we follow.

2014, it has been a very wonderful year to me. Step by step i fullfilled my dreams and targets, a big clap to myself. Hey 2015, i know you will be even more beautiful.

***** Flashback to the Christmas Week *****

As my previous post, I had exchanged present with my workmates during the christmas eve.
The present under a 'christmas tree'.

This is Jessy. I got the present from her.

A christmas home decoration in Timaru.

We go to Scarborough beach on the christmas day. There is nothing in the town, shops are close and you can see no one there.

After Christmas is the Boxing Day. The day for us to shop until drop! Destination of the day - DUNEDIN, again. I love the place very much!

The City of Dunedin.

Baldwin street. This time i come with my friends.

On the way to Dunedin, we stopped by OAMARU, a place full of artistic sense.

The following are pictures of the Grainstore Gallery. Those creations are unique and attractive. I am sure I will pay few more visit and buy some of her works in future.

Next is the Lazycat Art Craft Design Shop. It is located just nearby the Grainstore Gallery.

It has been a very busy christmas week. With party, vacation, shopping, and some outdoor activities!
